biggest summer polo event in Switzerland is coming. The
four teams up to 18 goals, who will take part of the Hublot
Gold Cup, which will be held from August 14 to 17 at Gstaad
Polo Club, are already confirmed.
Besides, the Hublot Gold Cup, which will have the exclusive
coverage by PoloLine, will give a total of 113 points for
the World Polo Tour, in the category Challenge Cup.

22, 2008 - Sotogrande
is ready to greet the XXXVII International Polo Tournament,
which will be held at Santa Maria Polo Club, and will run
from July 26 to August 31. All three levels, low (6 goals),
medium (12 goals) and high (20 goals) will take part of
the traditional Bronze, Silver and Gold Cups.
The 2008 Sotogrande season presents some news. One is the
inauguration of the newest redesigned Los Pinos Area, which
will be the centre of all social and sports-wise activities.
And besides, Adolfo Cambiaso will get back to Sotogrande,
to play the Gold Cup with Loro Piana.

race of the ranking of the World
Polo Tour goes on, after the Gold Cup for the British
Open.
Adolfo Cambiaso still maintains position #1 among the
professionals, with 1642 points, followed by Gonzalo
Pieres Jr. with 1274 points. Eduardo Novillo Astrada
Jr. remains in third place, and the most important change
is that Facundo Pieres advanced to fourth place (1157
points), which sent Pablo MacDonough to close the Top
5.
Italian Alfio Marchini, winner of Europe´s most
important tournament, with Loro Piana, is the leader
of the amateur ranking, with 646 points. Camilo Bautista
comes second, with 564 points.

Piana reached Gold. In an exciting final, in which they
managed to hold the lead thoroughout the whole match,
Alfio Marchini´s squad beat Ellerston 11-10, and
claimed the Gold Cup of the British Open, Europe´s
most important tournament. This way, Alfio and his lads
could get the title they missed in last year´s
final.
Loro Piana´s Juan Martin Nero was named MVP, and

for the Subsidiary Trophies had been held today.
Bucking Broncos won the Tatham Cup after defeating Yindarra
13- 11; Lovelocks got a 10-9 victory over Lechuza Caracas,
in extra chukka with a golden goal by Lolo Castagnola,
and claimed the Ashton Cup; and finally Grayshurst beat
Les Lions 11-10 and won the Jack Gannon Trophy.

did in 2004, St. Tropez Polo Team won he most important
tournament of the Cote d'Azur, in France, the International
Polo Cup, after beating Wasabi 11,5 - 8 in a very close
final match.
Meanwhile, La Campana beat Antelope 10-7 and claimed the
Subsidiary Trophy, and Helvetica got the third place, after
beating F. Polo Team by a heavy 10-3.

12, 2008 - Bobby Barry,
on of the best and most recognized polo umpires in the US,
died today unexpectedly, after collapsing while jogging
in the beach in Santa Barbara.
47-years old Barry, who reached 6 goals as a player, was
the son of former 9-goaler Ron Barry and member of the Barry
family of Texas. He was in Santa Barbara to umpire the 20-goals
season.

Hurlingham Polo Association announced the handicap changes,
agreed at the mid-season meeting, on June 23. One of
the most important rises is Hilario Ulloa´s, from
6 to 7. Hilario has been finalist of the Queen´s
Cup with Sumaya and is one of the big stars of the current
UK season.
Changes will be effective on June 26, 2008.
